By using SpendWise, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.

When you create an account or sign in, we collect:

- Display Name: Your name as you choose to display it in the app
- Profile Photo: Optional profile picture (if you sign in with Google)
- Phone Number: Optional phone number (if provided)
- Authentication Method: Whether you signed in with email/password, Google, or as a guest
1.2 Financial Data
To provide our expense tracking services, we collect and store:
- Transactions: Income and expense transactions including amount, date, category, account, and optional notes
- Categories: Custom expense and income categories you create
- Accounts: Financial accounts (Cash, Bank, Credit Card, etc.) with balances
- Budget Information: Monthly budget and initial net worth you set
- Currency Preferences: Your selected currency and currency symbol
1.3 App Usage Data
We collect information about how you use the App:
- App Preferences: Theme settings (light/dark mode), currency preferences
- Analytics Data: App usage patterns, feature interactions, and performance metrics (collected via Firebase Analytics)
- Crash Reports: Error logs and crash information to help us improve app stability (collected via Firebase Crashlytics)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version

Your data is also synchronized to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) to enable:

- Secure cloud storage

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

- Authentication: Secure authentication through Firebase Auth

Important: While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Update
You can access and update your personal information directly through the App settings at any time.
6.2 Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the App settings. When you delete your account:
- All your financial data (transactions, categories, accounts) will be permanently deleted
- Your account information will be removed from our systems
- This action cannot be undone
6.3 Data Export
You can export your transaction data as a CSV file through the App's export feature.
6.4 Opt-Out Options
- You can opt out of analytics by adjusting your device settings
- You can choose not to use cloud sync features (though this limits multi-device access)
7. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using our App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Notifying you through the App or via email for significant changes
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
